Rate books are very useful for enforcing consistent pricing, but they are time consuming to create from scratch. Griot provides a mechanism for making copies of rate books and applying consistent percentage changes to the rates. This helps you create discounted rate books for particular audiences, or to apply year-on-year pricing increases.
Cloning a rate book is simple. First access the rate book list from the Rates menu, locate the rate book you wish to clone in the rate book list, and click on the title link to review the rate book properties. At the bottom of the rate book properties screen you will see the Clone this Rate Book button. Click on it to open the rate book cloning dialog.
The Clone Rate Book dialog box enables you to provide a name for your new rate book, change the start/end dates if necessary, and provide the percentage change that will be applied to each rate in the new rate book. The example below shows how you could clone your commercial rates to create a rate book with a 10% discount for your non-profit customers.
After cloning a rate book you can still go in and manually update any of the individual rates or eligible employees if necessary.
